Members Matter Most
We held our 62nd Annual General Meeting on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Bridgewater Golf and Country Club on Gilmore Road in Fort Erie Ontario.
There were 125 members and 11 guests in attendance. All members and special guests were welcomed to the meeting by Chair Barrie Golding, including Tony D'Errico, Regional Manager of the Deposit Insurance Corporation of Ontario (DICO) and Tony Niessen, Executive Director of the Ontario Credit Union Charitable Foundation (OCUCF).
Chair Barrie Golding introduced Town Councillor Stephen Passero and invited him to speak to the membership on behalf of the Mayor. Stephen commended the credit union for continuing to support our Fort Erie community; speaking specifically about benefits to the children of our community through the 'Skates for Kids' program.
For fiscal year 2012, Net Profit was reported as $172,698; Assets remained stable at $53.4 million and Members' Equity topped $4.5 million. The Lending Team funded over $7.5 million in new mortgages and loans.
Directors Patricia Sparling and Bob Smith retired after many years on the board; Director Barb Scarlett was reelected for 3 years and Scott Benner & Alec Philps were elected for 3 years by acclamation.
Staff awards were presented; Perfect Attendance ..... MSR Valerie Gagnon, MSR Tami Johnsen & Head Teller Heather Lorking; Years of Service Awards ... MSR Valerie Gagnon - 5 Years, MSR Tami Johnsen - 5 Years & MSR Cathy Ettinger - 10 Years. Management announced that MSR Jane Freeman had retired as of December 31, 2012; Casual MSR Cheryl Laur had recently joined the staff; Casual MSR Julia Frey had accepted a full-time position & MSR Cathy Ettinger was retiring effective March 22, 2013.
MSR Tami Johnsen presented the powerpoint for the Ridgeway-Crystal Beach High School 'Small Change Program'.
Many door prizes were drawn throughout the evening and a light buffet was enjoyed following the adjournment.
A big 'Thank You' to the AGM committee for their hard work in organizing this event, to the Fort Erie Credit Union staff for their assistance both before and throughout the evening & to Bridgewater Golf and Country Club for their professional presentation and for providing the refreshments.
